Raymond Coates

2026 Recipient

Raymond devoted his life to education, leadership, and the betterment of his community. For over three decades, he served as a dedicated teacher and vice principal, shaping generations of students with his guidance and commitment.

A long-time member of Lakeland Credit Union, Raymond also served as a valued LCU Board Member and contributed at a broader level as a Board Member of Credit Union Central of Alberta. His leadership and insight helped strengthen the credit union system.

Raymond legacy includes his time as Mayor of Grand Centre, as well as his contributions to the Portage College Board. In every role, he brought integrity, vision, and a deep commitment to public service.

Known for his love of the outdoors and time spent with family, Raymond was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Above all, he was an inspiration for the Lakeland region, someone who consistently showed up, gave back, and made a lasting difference.
